Antibody Characterization

APPLY TODAY

Overview

Abveris (now a part of Twist Bioscience) is Boston's premier antibody discovery company providing contract research services to the biopharma industry. Abveris applies advanced immunization methods combined with B cell screening and hybridoma-based antibody discovery technologies to provide comprehensive reagent and therapeutic antibody discovery services. Abveris is developing the next generation of biologics, cell therapies, vaccines, and diagnostics in partnership with global leaders in biopharma.

Abveris is seeking a Scientist to join our growing antibody characterization team. Using the state-of-the art technologies and workflows, this Scientist would simultaneously work on multiple custom antibody discovery projects and ensure that project-specific deliverables are met. The primary responsibility would be performing high throughput immunoassays such as ELISA, SPR, BLI to characterize novel antibodies generated for different antibody discovery projects.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Determine binding kinetics, affinity and epitope binning of antibodies using SPR and BLI biosensors
  • Independently design, execute and troubleshoot immunoassays, analyze data, and present findings during departmental meetings
  • Concurrently execute multiple antibody discovery projects requiring wet lab activities, data analysis, and report generation to our partners
  • Develop and standardize novel assays and assist with the integration of automation to streamline antibody discovery and characterization processes
  • Support sample handling along with inventory tracking and management
  • Record and communicate experimental details, draft reports, and deliver data with a high level of integrity and ethics
  • Ensure that all the instruments are in optimal operating condition at all times

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

  • A PhD in a scientific discipline such as Biology, Biochemistry, Biomedical Engineering or related field is required
  • 0-3 years of solid hands-on experience using diverse biophysical techniques such as SPR (Biacore, SPR24/32, Carterra LSA), BLI (Octet, Gator) and/or other biosensors to characterize biomolecular interactions is required
  • At least 2-3 years of experience with characterizing proteins and antibodies in the context of drug discovery and/or protein engineering is required
  • A hands-on experience in protein chemistry such as protein analytics (SDS-PAGE, Western-blot, CE) and protein purification (HPLC, FPLC, IEX, SEC) is required
  • A broad knowledge and understanding of protein structure and biophysical characterization of proteins is preferred
  • Experience with other techniques such as ITC, MSD, MST, flow cytometry is preferred
  • Self-motivated, highly organized, detail-oriented and ability to work productively in a fast-paced work environment
  • Individual contributor but also collaborates with multiple teams across different departments
